JENNIFER: TEIM TO INTRODUCE YOU TO AN ANIMAL LOOKING FOR A GOOD HOME. JOIN USIVE L OF THE SPCA OF MARYLAND, KATIE FLORY. HELLO. >> HELLO, JEN. JENNIFER: I LOVE THE NAME OF THE DOG YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT TOY.DA CHESS AND MATE. >> YES. CHECKMATE IS A WONDERFUL GUY. HES I ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF. UNFORTUNATELY HE CAME TO US BECAUSE THE OTHER ANIMALS IN THE HOUSE DON’T LIKE HIM. HE IS REALLY AUN F Y.GU HE WAS IN OUR HOME PROGRAM AND WE HAVE LEARNED A LOT ABOUT HIM. HE’SOT NA COUCH POTATO BY ANY MEANS. REALLY LOOKING FOR AN ACTIVE FAMILY WHO WANTS TO GET OUT AND HIKE AND HAVE A GOOD TIME. >> I LOVE IT. WE HAVE SEEN IT IN THE LEAVES. WHAT KINOFD DOG IS IT? IS HE A GERMAN SHEPHERD MIX? >> WE MEAN IT. OFTEN WE HAVE ANIMALS COMING IN AND IT IS HARD TO TELL WHAT THE BREED IS. I THINK HE MIGHT HAVE A GERMAN SHEPHERD IN HIM. AND, ALSO, SOME OTHER ACTIVE BREEDS. >> I WANT TO KNOW WHERE THE FLOPPY ESAR COME FROM. OTHER ANIMALS DON’T CARE ABOUT HIM. SO HE WAS BULLYED AND NEEDS A GOOD HOME WHERE HE IS ACCEPTED. >> HE WILL PROBABLY DO BETTER IN A HOME WITHOUT OTHER PETS AND WITH MORE AIVCTED CHILDREN. JENNIFER: SO YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE A HOME TO TAKE A BIGGER DOG FISH. >> ABSOLUTELY. JENNIFER: WE TALK MORE ABOUT FAILURE AND MATE IN A MINUTE. FIRST, WE TALKED EARLIER THIS WEEK, ALSO LAST WEEK, ABOUT THE NEED FOR CAT FDOO BECAUSE THERE WAS SUCH A SHORTAGE OF THESE WET CANS. AND YOU GOT A GREAT RESPONSE. >> YES, WE DID IT. I WANT TO TAKE A SECOND TO THANK THE WBAL AUDIENCE. BECAUSE OF YOU GUYS, WE HAVE LOTS OF WET CAT FOOD NOW. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING THIS. THIS IS A REALLY IMPORTANT TIME. JENNIFER: OUR VIEWERS ARE THE BEST. >> THE OTHER THING I WANTED TO MENTION IS A GREAT TIME IN MARYLAND. THIS IS THE LEGISLATI VESESSION, DAN THERE ARE SO MANY BILLS RIGHT NOW THAT PEOPLE WHO ADVOCATE FOR ANIMALS NEED TO BE CAREFUL. JENNIFER: LIKE WHAT? >> ONE REALLY IMPORTANT BILL THAT EXISTS IS THE EXTREME WEATHER BILL. WE GET CALLS EVERY DAY FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE CONCERNED ABOUT ANIMALS IN THEIR COMMUNITY AND WHAT THEY CAN DO TO HELP. MAYBE THEY HAVE BEEN OUT OTO A LONG TIME. THIS IS A BILL THAT WOULD HELP PROVIDE STANDARDS IN THE STATE OF MARYLAND REGARDING WHAT IS ACCEPTABLE FOR ANIMALS IN EXTREME WEATHER. THERE IS ALSO A COST OF CARE FACILITY WHICH WOULD REALLY LOOK AT THE COST OF ANIMALS THAT HAVE BEEN BROUGHT TO ANIMAL CONTROL FACILITIES IN AN EVENT OF ANIMAL ABUSE. AND THERE ARE SOME BIG EVICTION BILLS WHEN IT COMES TO PETS AND MAKE SURE IF SOMEONE I EXVITE THEY WILL BE ABLE TO FIND THEIR PET AND ALSO A TAX CREDIT FOR THE OWNERS FOR ALWLO ANIMALS IN THEIR PROPERTIES. GO TO TOMARYLANDVOTESFORANIMALS. THEY CAN LEARN MORE ABOUT THE BILLS AND CALL TIRHE REPRESENTITAVES. HELP US MAKE MARYLAND A BETTER STATE FOR ANIMALS AND PEOPLE. JENNIFER: EA RLLY GOOD INFORMATION. I’M NOT SURE IF WE ARE ABLE TO SHOW THE CHECK MATE VIDEO YET. IF SOMEONE IS INTERESTED IN MEETING IT TO SEE IF IT SUITS HIS HOME, WHAT SHOULD THEY DO? >> VISIT OUR WEBSITE, MDSPCA.ORG, OR CALL 410-235-8826. JENNIFER: IT’S A CHARACTER. KATIE, THANK YOU FOR JOIN US THIS MORNING. ENJOY IT. >> THANK YOU JEN. JENNIFER: AS SHE MENTIONED, CLAL THE NUMBER ON Y
