American Pet Products Association Announces New Board Member

The American Pet Products Association (APPA), the premier trade association serving the interests of the pet products industry since 1958, announced that Savina Singh, CEO of JoJo Modern Pets, has been named to its board of directors.

Born and raised in Aurora, Illinois, Singh was inspired to start her own pet products business when her rescue dog JoJo changed her life. Wanting to bring beautiful products into homes, she set about designing them herself. A graduate of North Central College in Organizational Communications, she also pursued an MBA at the Illinois Institute of Technology. After earning a Masters in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Management, Singh worked in healthcare and the software industry. Following her passion, she created JoJo Modern Pets in 2012. JoJo Modern Pets supplies some of the largest retailers in the United States, as well as 2,000 independent stores that sell pet products. They are a true independent pet manufacturer, importer and distributor, helping to solve the essential supply chain issues that many pet brands and retailers face.

“I am very pleased to serve the pet business community as the newest member of the APPA Board of Directors, an organization that works hard for its members,” Singh said. “APPA is instrumental in the growth and strength of the pet industry.”

The announcement follows the appointment of current Board member Robert (Bob) Merar as interim CEO of APPA. In December 2021, the board launched a nationwide CEO search with Korn Ferry, which is ongoing.

The APPA Board of Directors includes pet industry professionals from various locations across the United States who work collectively to fulfill the association’s mission of promoting responsible pet care. and to advance the pet products industry.

In addition to Singh, Latham and Merar, the APPA Board of Directors includes Tommy Baroody, Vice President of Sales at Nestlé Purina PetCare, Missouri (Secretary/Treasurer); Alice Tillett, CEO of Petmate/Doskocil Manufacturing Company, Inc., Texas (former president); Jeremy Baker, vice president of strategic business development at Oxbow Animal Health, Nebraska (director); Kevin Fick, CEO of Worldwise, Inc., California (director); Chanda Leary-Coutu, director of marketing communications and customer experience at Wellness Pet Company, Massachusetts (director); Brett Johnson, chief customer officer of Radio Systems Corporation, Tennessee (director); and Todd Regan, senior vice president of marketing at Central Garden & Pet, Wisconsin (director).
